The study disproving the Mendelian theory was published in the American Journal of Human Genetics, and was supported with grants from Australia's National Health and Medical Research Council and the United States of America's National Cancer Institute.Mutations in genes can cause one to have the color they have, these mutations could be beneficial or non beneficial. Environmental factors, such as radiation, viruses, and chemicals can switch eye color genes on or off.
